One of the most important steps in recruiting and sponsoring is follow up.  So when does that start?

Before the first exposure…

Go into every interaction with a plan.  Have a take home packet ready for them before you even go to the presentation.  Then at the presentation, book the follow up.

And when you get to that follow up, if they’re not ready to join, book the next one.  And at every step, have your materials prepared.

Know what your packet is for every step of the process.  Book them at each step and enter in your calendar.  Do this and your follow up will always run smooth.

  2. Like a good Boy Scout, Be Prepared! But I’d also say don’t recruit anyone that you’re not willing to train and help to succeed! Too many times I’ve been given a new distributor kit, a memory jogger and a flip chart and told to go bug my friends and relatives. Then left to my own devices. Maybe it will be a case of the blind leading the blind but at least you’ll be leading. Success isn’t measured by how much money you can make, it’s measured by how many people you are willing to take with you to the top!

    Follow-Up is, in my opinion, the most important step in the process. Yet so many don’t do it or do it poorly. You may have heard the saying, “There’s Money in the Follow-Up'” or something similiar. You are leaving money on the table if you don’t master follow-up. Follow-up creates relationships and this is a people business.

    Make sure you keep a follow-up plan – you can use a spreadsheet application like Excel. The idea here is to log your prospects and the follow-up actions you take. Date the follow-up and when your next one will be, the type of follow-up you did, notes on the outcome of the follow-ups, etc. Stay organized with this and you will have a much easier time closing new business.

      Recruit your way out of it! New blood has to be entering your organization at all times. It’s like water…if you take an old pond that never gets good clean water into it, it will eventually fill with pond scum and start stinking. If you take a rushing mountain stream, it’s clear and fresh because new water is entering the stream all the time. Hope that helps!

Right, the following up is much smoother when you start building a relationship with your prospect… your prospect becomes a friend and a friend is more likely to join your business… so use social media to build friendship first.     When you make an appointment to follow up with someone, keep it! If we are not professional about the way we run our business, we lose credibility :)

    Great topic! I keep track of EVERY contact that I make in binded books, and keep them in my personal library. Everyone joins- eventually and life changes over 2-3 years! If location, location, location is key to traditional business, follow is key to MLM!

  12. Follow up is critical as it builds up on the relationship that begins during the first contact into the qualification meetings. Without a proper follow up the prospect will eventually see you for what you really are – an opportunist whose primary interest is to tick off the sale from your list.

  13. According to me, I believe that, FOLLOW UP = F O R T U N E.,
    Basically, one should follow up with the pure intent of guiding and helping the person to really succeed in what they are looking for, i.e. identifying their need, and doing your best to assist them, realise and get what they want, with your experience, skills, and patience. Follow up should be done to educate the person who has put their TRUST in YOU.
