This is an absolutely brilliant article and I'm not surprised the author is Randy.

Focusing only and always on the money is like trying to clench a fistful of water.

Better to gently cup your hands.

Wow

I have totally enjoyed this post. If you can look at it as a whole you can see where we as an industry need to fix some of the way things have been done. And you can see some of lack and limitation programming (as Randy always says) screws up a lot of people from being successful.

In either way, to all of you on the board open your mind and see what this post is showing us!

Then lets go out and help heal a broken world

much love

I can think of many things in no names' comments to disagree with.
"From what I hear, people sponsor a whopping 1-3 people on average in their entire career" entire career of what? 3 months? exactly! of course, but what about those who work at network marketing for more than 2 years? the "facts" show most of those people are succeeding and making money.
"the truth seems to be their jobs were actually paying for their business" - Paying for their business? who said running any business was free of costs?
whether it's a traditional business or network marketing.
Look it all boils down to what Randy has said before: " Nework marketing is perfect for everyone, but not everyone is perfect for network marketing"
No names' comments don't show any intelligence about network marketing rather a disappointment with it based not on facts but a misunderstanding of it and possibly a failed experience with it. In any case network marketing is growing and more and more people are succeeding today more than ever before! If anyone has what it takes to do this business, it can yield them exactly what Randy said it can end of story. Good luck to all who have with it takes!

I've been in network marketing for 2 years and not made one red cent, infact I've invested thousands of dollars in business tools and others things required to make myself look professional.
The people I come across day to day couldn't see an opportunity if slapped them in the face. I've had so many say " it looks good I wish you well with it". No dummy your supposed to sign up. Or others who say " Umm you can you really make all this money ?" to which I reply yes, absolutely but it takes hard work and training and I'll be with you all the way. Then they say " Umm maybe sometime in the future" No dummy timing is everything.
Having said all that just the prospect of being able to quit my day job and spend more time with my family, work 15 hours a week, travel around the world in first class and many other things keeps me going. I know and believe that when I do get this thing off the ground I will be able to do these things. I always ask myself the same question. " Is the firm I currently work for going to provide me with enough money to do the things that network marketing can provide?" The answer is :- Hell would freeze over first.

Hey Glen, I don’t think your input is negative, its cool. You are in the right place at the right time. Right now you have more successful mentors than you can shake a stick at.

Without knowing you personally, just from what I read on your post, your situation is not all that uncommon, the cool part is you keep trying.

If you don’t mind I will just share my 2 cents with you ok? I will keep it brief since after all this is Randy’s blog and I don’t want to be disrespectful to him. :o)

Normally I would just refer you to Randy’s Tools, but in your case this is a LONG TERM situation and you simply need a slight shift in the way you do things. If you read still yet another book, you will only see what you have been seeing in the other books you’ve read. Kinda like wearing rose colored glasses, everything seems to be tainted in rose color, and you notice all the things that stand out more prominently from the reds and rose colors and the blues and greens have been subdued so much so that you are beginning to not even notice them.

Glen, you are off course slightly, however due to the length of time you have been off course, by now you are probably way off target from your original destination.

From what I read in your post:

You have been working your networking business with your wife, and as much as she loves you and you love her, one more company and another list of failures in network marketing could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back? Its hard to look your wife in the eye and tell her with conviction, this time it will work.

I assume this because you open with, I have been trying to… I’ve joined a lot of companies… We spent… we never really made… we worked hard ….we were too discouraged … I’m sorry to be negative…

I assume you are the one brining the opportunities home, your wife jumps on board with you, and you work together, and it ends up flat. You take responsibility, not shifting the blame that is a very good thing incase you don’t already know that. I shows you are open to coaching and take responsibility for your actions.

My guess is, you are a hard and dedicated worker, if given a project to complete you will complete it and do it well, and take pride in your work.

You can work with limited supervision, at times you like to work alone, but almost always prefer to work in a small group setting, but don’t need to be babysat.

You like to think outside the box, but prefer to think in terms of tangible and tried and true, strategies and techniques. You prefer not to make it up as you go along.

You are the type that prefers to read, and likes to utilize your company’s brochures and literature.

You get frustrated when you don’t meet with incremental successes for you efforts and you see others succeeding with seemingly less effort then you are applying.

I am not simply stating undeniably truthful statements; these are clues from your post.

Glen firstly: please think about this. There is a fly on the windowsill, he is desperately trying to get out and keeps banging into the glass. What is the problem with the fly and his approach?

1. No matter how hard he tries he will never get through the glass. What he thinks is the best way for success and actually the surest way to fail.

Sure the fly is working hard, and not giving up when met with seemingly insurmountable odds; but he is not quitting.

To all his fly friends he appears to be a hard worker, and dedicated, and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve his dreams. But you and I both know that fly will not make it unless he changes his approach.

2. The fly is convinced his approach is the best approach. He is not paying attention to the other flies in the room, he is not following a success path, nor is he open to a new idea. The fly seems to be convinced his way is the best way for him and just might die trying to prove his point

3. The fly seems to think more of the same will get him closer to his goal. The more he tries and the harder he tries, that seems be his plan, right?

Even if you go over and attempt to help the fly out the window by opening it a few inches the fly will still more times that not go back to the glass and avoid the opening. (don’t ask how I know this… :o)

Glen, you have been at it for 29 years, trying to succeed and to turn a profit in MLM since 1980 but some how the success keeps eluding you.

It would be a good idea, if you are still in an MLM now, to start looking at your business a brand new way, and stop doing the busy work of network marketing and start doing the work that produces tangible quantifiable results, results that you can take to the bank.

I am concerned that you are coachable to a degree, you are very willing to be coached by the right person but you have not found the right person to coach you as of yet? That’s ok, you don’t need a coach just yet, what you need is a fresh perspective.

So lets get you that fresh perspective.

What I would recommend to you is that you play along with a little exercise. Imagine you are sitting in your room, and the you from the future comes to visit you. If you need a movie reference for this, Disney’s The Kid with Bruce Willis would be a perfect movie for you to watch.

Ok the you from the future comes to visit you, only with a twist, the you from the future is a monumental success in network marketing, you have a huge downline, and a great organization and you are very successful. Kinda like the man in Fogg’s book, The Greatest Networker in the World.

The future you will share with the you from the present how to become successful, step by step, each and every step over the course of many meetings.

I recommend you do this for at least 10 minutes or more every single morning from now on.

Your meetings at first may be short and quiet, however as you allow your mind to work with the idea you will begin to find that your meetings will become more and more profitable and more and more insightful, never more than 15 to 20 minutes.

There are a few things you need to do to make this work.

1. Let go of all the things you think you know about success in this business.

2. When the future you advises you to take action in your business you do it without hesitation. Make a way or find a way, without hesitation.

3. The future you will at some point in your meetings share your system for success with you, take notes, and follow that system without deviation, no refinements, no changes, no improvements, just do it.

4. You will begin to notice the future you, acts, walks, talks and dresses differently than you do now, emulate his style, mannerisms, and actions.

5. Above all else DO NOT DEVIATE FROM THIS PLAN once you start.

The future you will recommend books, CD’s DVD, courses, and mentors and coaches, in time follow that advice, above all else continue to meet with the future you on a daily basis.

If you don’t believe this will work, then don’t even start the process. It is a stretch for most people to start this process, and I am assuming it will be a stretch for you as well, but don’t let that stop you. You must believe this will work, without a doubt.

This is very similar to Napoleon Hill’s Master Mind Alliance, so trust me, it is not some new fangled never before tried or testing freakish theory. It will work, especially in your situation. (and it is a condensed version of my Time Distorted Coaching Theory ™)

I know you are probably wondering why I am not telling you to go do this or that, or some other thing. Quite simply, because you already know what to do, you are just fighting it, and hearing it or reading it from still yet one more person isn’t going to help you. The one person in your life that has never let you down is you, you need to trust you a little more and take your own advice. When the time is right you will have more mentors, till then you are your own mentor and coach.

Now for the BIG STEPS!

You need to re-create yourself. (I highly recommend you start with your belief yourself.) “Remake yourself into a character of power. Working on yourself like clay should be one of your greatest and most pleasurable life tasks. It makes you in essence and artist – an artist creating yourself." Richard Greene

A picture I use to motivate me regarding this process is a picture of a famous Sculpture called the Self-Made Man by Bobbie Carlyle. (www.bobbiecarlylesculpture.com or call her in Colorado at (970) 622-0213.)

Next, stand straight, stop slouching, if you are slightly over weight consult your doctor and start a workout program, even if it’s just walking daily.

Stop negative thoughts in their tracks. You find a negative thought creeping into your mind, stop it immediately and replace it with a positive one. Need help with positive thoughts. Randy’s Twitter has his daily affirmations on it, you can also go to www.greatday.com and you will find more than you know what to do with.

This is one of the most important, so pay close attention. Start hanging around a new group of people. Find some new hobbies and go to the meetings, go to your local Y and check out some things there, find a local Rich Dad Group, get out and meet NEW people.

You, like everyone else, pride yourself on your uniqueness, the future you and I are about to tell you right now, that is NOT your key to success. Learn to mix well with others.

You do NOT need to read still yet another book right now, what you need is action, new action and LOTS of it. Most importantly the RIGHT action.

Follow these steps for the next two weeks, with an open mind and you will see some cool things taking place.

This is Randy Gage’s blog, and he has more than enough resources for you to utilize when the time is right, for now stay plugged into Randy and his site and follow these steps. I assure you, you will be back on the right course in no time, if you stick to it, 30, 60, 90, days from now, you will be amazed.

Think of this advice as Oprah’s Gratitude Journal example on steroids, the results people normally see in 6 to 9 months you will begin to see in as little as 30 days. If you don’t follow the steps, do not complain to me, or anyone else about it, you will clearly have no one to blame but yourself. OK?

You will soon see that you too can be one of those heavy hitters you have been hearing and reading so much about.

If you are not in an MLM Company right now hold off on signing up for now, when you are ready Follow Randy’s example and his resources, or take a closer look at the resources Tim Berry & Julie Mirr have to offer, I am sure you will be making money in no time. Both have great resources anyone can use to build an organization using the internet, thus taking you completely out of the equation.

that's my two cents worth...

have a happy 4th weekend

Randy’s Twitter has his daily affirmations on it, you can also go to http://www.greatday.com and you will find more than you know what to do with.

Both have great resources anyone can use to build an organization using the internet, thus taking you completely out of the equation.

that’s my two cents worth…

have a happy 4th weekend
