Top Countries for MLM

Here’s an interesting article from Direct Selling News.  They rank the top countries for MLM and Direct Selling and list the ones that do over US$1 billion annually.  It makes for some interesting reading.  See how it compares to your organization.

There are some countries you expect to see at the top like US, Japan and Germany and a few surprises as well.  Just use some critical thinking as you study it.

Know that many countries (particularly in Latin America) the numbers are skewed much more to direct selling, not real MLM.  And other countries are very underreported because much of this data comes from DSA membership, which is not as strong in some countries.  And there are other factors like corruption, black market, cross border work, which affect reporting.  For instance I would suggest that Russia is actually three or four spots higher.

Take a look here and let me know what you think.

The company I am doing MLM at the movent has opened VERY RECENTLY offices in Nigeria and I am looking for partners to be the first to make business over there. You know that when you start early in a NEW country the you make lots of money.

I dont know how experienced you are in MLM but have a look at my webpage http://savvasthomas.blogspot.com and if you are interrested just fill out your details and I will contact you to have a business talk.

Not a big surprise. Perhpas depend how you count it. In the countries where is very strong social system, people do not ahve need to do anything else.

  5. Interesting information, Germany and France on this list is big surprise for me as they both seem to be very closed for this type of business.

      Hi Viktoria
      How are you?
Germany is well known for being the top country in Europe. I was more amazed to see UK in there but it’s because the direct selling companies do so well here.

GREAT piece! I knew Mexico had to be on the list! Here’s one reason why: 68% of the sales of Jafra Cosmetics are from Mexico. Mexico’s Sales Leaders are at the TOP of the sales force, and those women are the ones driving around in beautiful, luxurious, company owned cars! Only 22% of their sales is here in the US, and just 10% everywhere else. Powerful huh?

  8. It is not surprising to see who is on this list. Population and per capita incomes combined with education makes one wonder how come there are not more over the 1 billion in sales. What happened to India, Australia, Austria and the rest of Europe?

  9. Yes, very interesting information. I didn’t realize that some of these countries would be in the top countries. I was especially surprised Brazil was #3. Useful info – thank you Randy!

  14. Greetings from Brazil.

Direct sales non MLM is huge here, but MLM is taking a fast growth too. The real major players here are Avon and Natura. Together they add a little above 2bi. Brazil became the largest market for Avon and Natura is a Brazilian company.

Regarding MLM, Brazil is the #1 in Forever Living Products, was #3 market for TNI (TNI left the country due to regulatory issues) and is the #5 in Herbalife. There are several local perfumes MLM companies competing to each other.

MLM has a big opportunity for growth here, but companies need to face very complex and bureaucratic regulatory issues with local agencies when willing to sell nutritional supplements.

I’m amazed that the UK features so high in the list and the positive attitude of the Executive director of the DSA.
Particularly with the nutritional side when we have the wonderful National ‘Health’ (Illness)Service, which is considered by the majority to be ‘free’!

  16. Rachel Henke says:

    Thanks Randy.
It would be interesting to know how much is direct selling companies and how much is real Network Marketing. I always find it strange that they are regulated by the same body.

UK does very well with catalogue businesses such as Avon and Betterware. Strange really considering the constant rain!!

  17. Jane says:

Hi Randy – good link! I meandered around the DSA site after reading the linked article – there are so many archived articles there which can be very useful for ‘educating’ the serious business prospect about Network Marketing. They had another good one on the top billion-dollar companies and it was good to see the company with which I am a distributor coming in at No 8 despite being privately owned. I like that – no shareholders to satisfy and not subject to the ups and downs of the stock market.
Keep up the great work RG! You know you are so much appreciated for the wealth of material you place on offer.

hey did you forget IRAN by voa report iran has more than 4 milion networker.

  21. F4 Network says:

    Hi Randy,

You have provided a boost to everyone in the Direct Selling industry. It is very interesting to know who stands where.

  22. I thought that the UK might have been higher than 8th position in this list, with established direct selling businesses such as Betterware, Kleeneze, Avon and the like, but it would appear that direct selling is a much bigger proposition in many other countries.

  23. If you’re in a not good position and have got no cash to get out from that, you would have to receive the credit loans. Because that should help you unquestionably. I get commercial loan every single year and feel myself great just because of this.

  24. Thanks for this post Randy.
It good very much for me.

  25. Thanks for this post Randy.

I am surprised that India is not even on the top 15. Can anyone shed some light on why? The have a population of over a billion people I figured they would have made a dent in the industry…
